Ordination Weekend

Congratulations Pastor Joan, Rosemarie, Pastor Angela and Tammy.  We welcome you to the pastoral staff of New Covenant Church of Atlanta.

As we have continued to grow, God has been raising up leadership who will be equipped and who will thrive in the ministries that God has called them to.  Be sure to thank those who work very diligently to listen to God because He is building a house that will impact the nations.

If you haven’t said thank you to a leader recently for all their hard work, then please do so:

Word for Today

From Pastor Angela Brown

What I am about to share with you is not a boast but a testament to the greatness of the God we serve. When I was 17, I felt called to the ministry, but because I was Church Of Christ I knew that I could not be a minister, because that denomination does not ordain women. As a result, I put the calling on the back burner thinking that I was not really hearing from God. As the years went by, the Holy Spirit continued to speak to my soul about the direction that God had planned for my life, but when I tried to put into action the plan, roadblocks prevented the advancement.

God has a plan for each and every one of us. His perfect plan does not function on our schedule, but the Godly schedule in his PDA. Almost twenty years after I heard the call of God on my life, God put his plan into action and yesterday I was ordained as a pastor in service for my awesome God and his church.

What does God have planned for you? Whatever it is, don’t rush, let God take the lead and he will get you where you need to go when you need to get there.

Joshua 24:15

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Look What The Lord Has Done

Look what the Lord has done,

Look what the Lord has done,

He healed my body, he touched my mind.

He saved me just in time.

I’m gonna praise his name.

Each day is just the same.

Come on and praise him,

Look what the Lord has done.

Confession of Faith

From Pastor Joan Castle

(Say the following out loud during your devotional time, and mediate on these scriptural promises)

Heavenly Father, I seek Your word and wisdom, for it is far greater than any riches.  I seek You first and pursue after Your love and grace.  Your mercies are everlasting.  Thank You for creating me and forming me and knowing me before the foundation of the world.  You know all about me.  My going in and my coming out.  You know what I will do before I do it.  Thank You Holy Spirit for being my close friend and leading me in the path of righteousness.

I choose to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd.  The devil’s voice I will not follow.  I will run from it.  Today and everyday I will hear what the Spirit of God is saying, and I will not harden my heart or shove aside His promptings.  Your Word, Lord, is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.  You lead me in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake.  The steps of a good man or woman are ordered by the Lord.  The Lord guides me with His counsel.

The Holy Spirit is in me to reveal the hidden things that I cannot see with my natural eyes.  I believe that God gives me the spirit of wisdom and revelation through a growing knowledge of Him. The Spirit of truth lives in me and He will guide me into all that is truth.  He will show me things to come as I allow Him to speak into my life.  I have the mind of Christ and my thoughts and attitudes are obedient to the Holy Spirit.  Amen

Growing For Sowing

Exceed to Seed

If God is giving you dreams and visions for something to accomplish here at New Covenant, then please, by all means share it with Pastor Randy.

Write it down and e-mail it:  Habakkuk 2:2 says, “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that reads it.”  Write down what God is showing you and share it.

2007 is a year of “Growing for Sowing.”  A time for us to continue to grow.  As we are set to enter into the hundreds here at this local church, let’s keep in mind that God has also called us to other cities, other nations, etc.

God is setting in motion events that will send various leaders here at New Covenant to the north, south, east, and west.  We’re not just going to call them in, we will go out.  So, 2007 will be the year that we grow in order to sow.  That we exceed where we are in order to seed in other places.

Keeping in mind that God has called this church, New Covenant Church of Atlanta, to be a local church.  We are here, and God has called us here to this city.  However, God has also called us to go out as well.  So, be praying about your place and what God has for you.  These are exciting times.  Let’s grow together!!!

Do You Want More Power?  Do you want to experience the supernatural power of God and miracles more consistently in your life?  Then you definitely want to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is the member of the Godhead that is present in the earth to administrate God’s Presence and supernatural abilities among His children.

Increase Your Prayer Life

Pray, Pray, Pray.  It’s a great activity and nothing yields greater and higher rewards in every area of life.  Today, I want to give a few pointers that can act as a “checklist” for your prayer life.  Go through these pointers and begin to develop a successful time alone with God.

How to pray:

Alone with God

Jesus said, “When you pray, go into your closet alone, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly” (Matthew 6:6).  Everyday, have a time set apart to be alone with God.

This “Secret Place” (Psalm 91) mindset will have awesome results, not the least of which is a growth in communication with God and a learning of His ways and emotions.

With someone else and/or in a group

Jesus said, “If two or more are assembled together in my name, I will be among them” (Matthew 18:20).  He also said, “if two shall agree as touching anything in prayer, it shall be done” (Matthew 18:19).  There is power in agreement praying.  Try it out today.  Call someone and say, “Hey, can we pray together?”  Then, simply bring petitions to God together.  And watch as your prayer life begins to increase.

What to say when you pray:

1.      Worship

When we come before God, we should always enter into His Presence with praise and worship (Psalm 100:4).  Sing a song of praise.  Speak words of adoration.  Bless Him first.  So often we run into the throne room of our Father and say, “gimme, gimme, gimme, often with no regard for His heart.  The very love of our souls should be honored before a petition is made.

2.      Listen

At the end of your worship time, begin to grow quiet and listen.  Praise and worship will activate the voice of God (Acts 13:1).

Simply grow quiet and listen.  Be sure to write down everything God speaks to your heart.  You will steadily become very skilled in hearing His Voice.

Then “Pray-Out” everything He speaks to you.  When He speaks, use what He says to release it.  For example, if God speaks to you and says, “My people are perishing for a lack of knowledge,” then take that and pray:

“Father, you have said to me that many of your people are perishing for a lack of knowledge.  Today, I ask you to give us, in this church, a spirit of revelation knowledge.  I rebuke ignorance and say that the ‘eyes of our understanding will be flooded with light and we will know’ what you want us to know.  In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.”

3.      Petition

Begin to make your petitions known to God as well (Phil 4:6).  Have a list of things that you and God are working on.  Pray about your job, about your spouse, about having a spouse (if you’re single), for your church, for your president, for your boss, etc.  Pray for those you know who are sick.  Make your petitions known to God.  Ask Him to do what only He can do – to “fix” what only He can fix.

4.      Worship

Then, finally, close again in praise and worship.  He’s going to answer your prayers.  He’s going to do what He said He would do, now thank Him for it.

Begin to pray.  You’ll find your life changing more and more.
