Shout

Where do you put your faith and trust? We trust that our cars will start when we get in them to head to work or wherever Have you ever had one of those days where you just wanted to scream because you felt like there was nothing left that you could do? I know that I have been in that position where I just wanted to let out a great big yell of frustration, thinking that I would feel better if I did. We often think of shouting in these times, but the word of God references shout as a joyful moment, as an opportunity to give God praise. Giving praise in such a manner can bring about great change in our lives. Today, lets give a shout offering of praise to God our Father. Doing so, we will shout down the devil and reclaim that which he tried to steal.

Josh 6:16-17 16 The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the people, "Shout! For the LORD has given you the city! 17 The city and all that is in it are to be devoted [a] to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute [b] and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent.

20 When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city

From Pastor Joan

Confession of Faith

Father, I will not betray another man’s confidence.  I will listen and offer compassion and love, which covers a multitude of sins.  I will follow Your likeness and let the light of Jesus shine through me to others.  For You are great and marvelous are Your works.  I honor and praise Your holy name.  You are worthy to be praised and adored.  Jesus I love You!

I refuse to throw away my confidence no matter what I see around me.  I will not allow what I see to discourage me.  I will not allow what I see to pull me down.  I make a decision that I will not throw away, because my confidence has a great reward.  I maintain an attitude of faith that is always pleasing to You.  The manifestation will come; because I maintain my position of pleasing God by using my faith and holding fast to my confession and never letting it go.  I will not draw back.  I will not give up.

God loves me and I love others and, therefore, my faith works.  My roots are healthy and productive roots.  I’ve got the Word of God in my roots because I meditate on the Word day and night.  Amen

Holiness…

By:  Apostle Randy Morgan

Sin is sin and holiness is holiness. So often the Body of Christ, gay and straight, dances around this topic in order to be more appealing to the world. However, it is vital for us as believers in Jesus Christ to recapture the idea that we must live a holy life before God. Today, I encourage you to recapture your love of living a life for Jesus. Recapture, not a feeling, but a lifestyle that avoids sin and steers completely toward those things that please your heavenly Father.

Can we be completely holy? YES and no. The Word of God declares, "be holy even as I (God) am holy" (1 Peter 1:16). God is Holy, and He wants us to live holy lives that reflect who He is. God wouldn't ask you to do something if there was not a way for you to obey. If He did, He wouldn't be just. The Word of God tells us that if we are believers in Jesus, then we have the Holy Spirit living in us and He gives us the strength to be holy (Ezekiel 36:27 / 2 Cor. 12:9).

If you are struggling with sin:

  • Ask the Holy Spirit, right now, for help. Ask Him to give you strength to resist sin, and then in conjunction with that prayer
  • Become an avid student of the Word of God, because the Word of God is the sword of the Spirit with which we combat and overcome temptation (Matthew 4 / Eph. 6:17 / Hebrews 4:12).

So, even though we, in our own strength, can't be completely holy, the Holy Spirit in us gives us the strength to stay clear of sin when we are tempted. Because we are a part of a fallen nature, we will sin at some point; however, if we do sin, we can still be completely holy because if we open our mouths, confess we have sinned, and ask for forgiveness, then the Blood of Jesus makes us completely holy in that moment (1 John 1:7-9). You can be completely holy in this life!!!

Holiness is about total devotion to God not agendas. The word "Holy" in the Greek is "Hagios," which means "to be completely set apart for." If you desire holiness, right now, rededicate your life to God, and declare that His holiness belongs to you and that you are going to live a life set apart for Him completely.

Today, God calls us to live holy lives (Romans 6 / Romans 12:1-2 / Leviticus 19:2 / 1 Peter 1:15-16, and a lot of other scriptures). Answer His Call with "Yes Lord!"

God Bless,

Apostle Randy Morgan

Put on the WHOLE armor of God in Your Interpersonal Relationships

By Deacon Tonna Eidson

www.sweetwaterministry.org

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore….

(Ephesians 6:10-14)

Why do we need to put on armor? Lets look at Ephesians 6 in context. From beginning, the passage is talking about interpersonal relationships with people. Did the writer stop writing about human interaction? No, he simply explained to us how to deal with humans who are being influenced by the devil and his subordinates. The Word of God clearly tells us how to get along with people and prevent conflicts. We are told in verse twelve that we are not wrestling with flesh and blood (even though it seems as though we are at times).

So, when do you put on armor? Before the war. Basically, we are armed before the conflict begins. Do you wait until you’re in the midst of battle (conflict) to put on your armor? Well, if you did you’d be defeated. What are we armed with? Our weapons are:

1) Truth -- “… having girded your loins (this is making reference to the reproductive part of our mind, our creativity) with truth….” (v. 14). Why would we want the creative part of our mind to be gird about with truth. Well, it takes no creativity to tell the truth, however, the enemy causes us to use our creativity to produce lies (the opposite of truth). Also, the enemy would like us to speak anything other than the truth (God’s Word concerning us) because our words have the power to create. If he can trick us into saying anything but what God says about us with our mouth, he’s caused us to create a wrong outcome for ourselves. And, Ephesians 4:15 tells us that we should speak the truth in love so that we can grow. The enemy would love to keep us from growing. How does this help us in interpersonal relationships? Well, it’s a proven fact that lies break down relationships (Satan’s goal). Always speak the truth and you’ve won the battle before it commences.

2) Righteousness -- “…having put on the breastplate of righteousness.” (v. 14). How can “putting on” righteousness help in our relationships with others? The opposite of righteousness is unrighteousness--that’s what the enemy would like to see us identify ourselves as. If we feel in our heart that we’re unrighteous, we will never have confidence to receive all of the promises we have been given to us in the Word of God. We cease to be effective in the kingdom of God. The Bible teaches us in Isaiah 64:6 “…all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment….”, and Isaiah 53:6 teaches us, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. and Romans 3:22 tells us that we depend on Jesus’ righteousness (not our own). So, when the enemy tries to use people to discourage us, to bring us down, to point out our failures or shortcomings, he is powerless because we are not trusting in our own righteousness. The Bible tells us: “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:1-9) The enemy would love to defeat you by using people to put you down and make you think you’re a failure because you’re not perfect. Remembering that it’s not your righteousness, but the Lords, keeps you from being affected by these attacks. I’ve been there and it hurts, especially when it comes from those we love telling us what a dirty, low-life we are. Put on the breastplate of righteousness before it happens and it’ll bounce right off you.

3) Peace --”…and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” (v. 15). The opposite of peace is what? Strife! “It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife; But every fool will be quarrelling. (Proverbs 20:3)” Satan is known as the “accuser of the brethren.” Does he appear in the flesh and accuse you? No, he uses people to accuse you. An d don’t forget, “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.“ (James 3:16) Ah, ha! The enemy would love to open the door to confusion and every evil work by simply having you kick off your “peace” shoes and get into a rip-roaring fight. So, when strife knocks, keep the door closed. A professional once told me that when dealing with people who are acting up and in strife, just imagine them as a child throwing a tantrum. It helps! Stay cool and you’ll be in control. Plus, think how nice life is without confusion or any evil work. The rewards are great so, keep peace. And remember, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3)

4) Faith -- In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish ALL the flaming arrows of the evil one. (v. 16). Here are some examples of where people’s words are like arrows (or darts) in the Word of God:

“Like a club and a sword and a sharp arrow Is a man who bears false witness against his neighbor.” (Proverbs 25:18)

"Their tongue is a deadly arrow; It speaks deceit; With his mouth one speaks peace to his neighbor, But inwardly he sets an ambush for him.” (Jeremiah 9:8)

Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows and death, so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “Was I not joking?” (Proverbs 26:18-19)

Sound familiar? Ever have someone talk bad about you or deceive you? It hurts like a sharp arrow doesn’t it. But if we use our shield of faith, the following applies:

“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.”

(Psalm 91:5)

“God is known in Judah; His name is great in Israel. His tabernacle is in Salem; His dwelling place also is in Zion. There He broke the flaming arrows….” (Psalm 76:1-3)

Where do we get that shield? By staying in the Word! Read the Word of God to find out what God has to say about you and you will not be deceived.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. “ (Romans 10:17)

5) Salvation -- And take the helmet of salvation….(v.17). Let’s look at the original language:

perikephalaia: encirclement of the head, i.e. a helmet -- helmet.

soterion: defender or (by implication) defence -- salvation

Why is salvation our defense when it comes to attack by those under the influence of Satan? Many will try to tell us that we’re not saved. Others try to lead you to different paths of salvation (not Jesus). If we have our mind assured that we are saved, we will not be vulnerable to those offering any other salvation than Jesus Christ alone.

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)

6) The Word -- …and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (v. 17). This passage is talking about the rhema Word of God (God speaking directly to you) which is our cutting device (machaira) of the spirit (pneuma). But, what are we cutting, and why?

My best guess is cutting out any voice that is not God’s voice talking to us. People talk all day long and never say anything that lines up with God’s will for our lives. If we know we have heard from God, nothing anyone has to say (their opinions, their counsel, their arguments, their philosophies, their criticism, etc.) will hurt us. But, in order to take up this “sword” we need to be spending quality time with the Lord and LISTENING for His voice. And if we are “armed” with this sword, there will not be a battle, it’ll be won before we encounter the enemy.

Did the writer stop there? No, he gives further instruction on dealing with people.

7) Prayer -- With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, (v. 18). It’s hard to be in conflict with someone for whom you have been praying…

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.” I Timothy 2:1

…or, for whom you have been giving thanks. Most importantly, remember this:

“... our struggle is not against flesh and blood.…”

What is The 150???

Scriptural basis for GROWING:

So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest (Matthew 9:38)

Great multitudes followed Jesus (Matthew 4:25).

Great multitudes gathered together unto Him (Jesus) (Matthew 13:2).

Great multitudes came unto him having with Him those who were lame, blind, dumb, and maimed and many others and cast them at Jesus’ feet and He healed them … and the multitudes were amazed (Matthew 15:30).

The multitudes resorted to Him (Jesus) and He taught them (Mark 2:13).

And the believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both men and women (Acts 5:14)

The Word increased and the number of disciples increased (Acts 6:7)

The Hand of the Lord was with them and a great number believed and turned to the Lord (Acts 11:21)

We are always setting goals here at New Covenant for higher, greater, more excellent, and more powerful service to God.  Without a vision people perish and cast off all restraint, so goals are vital for any group to thrive and grow, especially in the Kingdom.  God has given us a vision and a message that will reach the nations, help revolutionize lives, and lead souls into a relationship with our God and King.  With that in mind, in order to fulfill the vision that God has given New Covenant Church of Atlanta, we must grow even beyond the awesome growth we’ve seen through the years – we need many more people.  Not just to sit in pews, but laborers, ready to get to work for the demonstration of God’s plans and purposes.  So, a goal has been set - 150 people as our base attendance and beyond.

Will you set your faith in agreement?  Will you call friends, family, loved ones, those who haven’t been to church in a while?  Will you send cards, e-mails, etc.?  Will you call it forth in prayer?  If so, thank you.  God is going to do amazing things here in this Body of Believers.  We need the exponential power of unity and growth to continue here at New Covenant – to breakthrough the 100 or so mark in attendance, to increase in order to sow out into the world.  Let’s reach higher than we’ve ever reached before

A corporate confession based on the Scriptures above, say this out loud:

Where Jesus was, multitudes followed Him, gathered together with Him, were healed by Him, and taught by Him.  Father, your Word makes it plain that where Jesus is, people come – we call them in through prayer first.  You add to the church and I thank you now that the church is being added to in number.  The Word will increase, so I thank you that as the people grow in their understanding and hearing of the Word that you will increase.  Your Word increases and the people grow in their understanding of the Word; therefore, people will be added to the church. In the Name of Jesus.
