The Vision for 2008

Restoring the Blessing of the Table of the Lord

Learning to EAT AGAIN!!!

By:  Apostle Randy Morgan

For too long, so many of my children have not sat at the table to eat what I have placed before them, but I am calling them to return and be nourished, even now,” was the word God spoke to my heart as I was driving recently.  Right before the Word came, the image by Norman Rockwell to the left was put in my heart.  I suddenly felt God saying that it was time to learn to be nourished and that 2008 would be the year of “Restoring the Blessing of the Table.”  It would be the year that we learn to:

·    Stir our Hunger for the Word

·    Stir our Hunger for God’s Presence

·    Crave the nourishment of fellowship

·    Recognize The Father at the Head of the Table, His Rules, His Family, His Ways, and His Table Disciplines, as well as the joy at the table of the Lord.

·    Why He chooses to “Prepare the table before us in the Presence of our enemies???”

·    The church, Her Role in the distribution of the spiritual food in the earth and spiritual realm

·    The times for the main course and the times for desserts…

This is the time for us to learn how to come to the table of the Lord and feast through the study of His Word, Worship, and fellowshipping with one another.

We will be feasting on the things of God in 2008.  Our declaration shall become, “We SHALL BE NOURISHED NOW MORE THAN EVER.”

HOW TO VICTORIOUSLY CELEBRATE THE CHRISTMAS SEASON AND NOT END UP 10 POUNDS IN DEBT!

By Dr. Jack Brink

Here is a short list to follow to help you successfully get through the Christmas  season so you won’t begin the new year big as a float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

1. BEFORE YOU GO TO A YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY EAT SMALL MEALS THROUGHOUT THE DAY.  It’s easy to go from one extreme to another, but the last thing you want to do is starve yourself all day then gorge at the party. Remember, the key word here is BALANCE!  (unless it’s at my New Years Day party in which case you better come hungry! J ) Studies show that we actually manage to consume thousands of extra calories in a very short period of time when we let ourselves get ravenous.  And with all that rich, fatty food a paws-length away you can see how easy it would be to do that!  So eat small meals throughout the day, you won’t be starving and you won’t wreak all kinds of havoc on your body.

2.  “FOUR FINGER RULE” Reduce your portion sizes.  The flesh wants ‘‘super-size” portions of everything, that’s the way of the flesh…it always wants MORE!  Don’t let it have it’s way, your craving will actually be satisfied with a small portion as it will with a big portion. Your portion size of anything should not be any bigger than your four fingers held together, TOUCHING!, not including the palm of your hand (or your thumb for those with freakishly long thumbs!)

3.  DRINK LOTS OF WATER!  Here he goes again with the water…… Your body needs water to clean out the fat cells in your body.  This God created filtering system will help you clean out all the toxins you put in at the party!.  Water also helps you feel full and satisfied.  Did you know that the more water you drink the less water you will retain?  It’s true, once all those trillions of cells, yes trillions, are hydrolyzed (filled with water) your body begins to dump retained water keeping you from being bloated as a stuffed turkey!

4.  MIND YOUR ALCOHOL INTAKE.  I am frequently asked, “If I am going to drink alcohol, what would cause the least amount of damage to my body?”  Not too many people are crazy about my answer.  First of all, alcohol contains 7 calories per gram, and those calories have NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE, they are known as empty calories…..it’s easy to add a couple hundred calories to your evening before you even get started on the food calories with just 2 drinks (depending of course on what you’re drinking). Next, if you think the flesh is weak just as you are, then just try adding booze!  Just a little too much and any will power you had will be gone and you may as well pull up a chair to the buffet table.  If you don’t have a physical or mental dependency on alcohol, stick to one and drink it slowly through out the evening.

Then switch to water.  NEVER consume alcohol on an empty stomach. (Can we say,

inner drag queen?”)

5.  HIT THE PROTEINS FIRST!  When you get to your party check out the food tables first….without a plate!  Then plan your strategy!  Start with the protein, go for the chicken, the meatballs, the shrimp etc and make sure your plate (which should not be the size of your head!), is about 2/3rds covered.  Then hit the veggies, your plate should be pretty full by now.  Try a few pieces of cheese to fill out your plate.  Eat slowly, “yes Mom”, and finish everything on your plate, “Yes again Mom!” .  It takes roughly 20 minutes for your stomach to signal to your brain that it has been fed so give it so take your time, enjoy your plate of goodies and enjoy  conversation with those at the party.  You will find that before you know it your hunger will be satisfied and the desire to “binge at the trough” will be abated! Hallelujah!  You may not even feel the need to hit the dessert table, but if you choose too, at least the chances for overeating too many sweets will be minimized.

6.  EXERCISE   Yes ,the “E” word.  If you haven’t already begun an exercise routine this would be a GREAT time to start.  Don’t wait til the New Year like the bloated masses. If you are over indulging  now you have to exercise now, not later after the damage is already done.  Exercise will keep your metabolism up and running so if you do over indulge (ok, lets call it what it is, gluttony), your body is more likely to burn it off faster and not store it as fat! Also, if you are exercising a few times a week your body can recover a lot more quickly from any damage that was done.

Many people gain 8-10 pounds each holiday season. Then comes the New Year and they’re fighting to take it off for the next few months!  Be smart and start to do something about it now.  It’s okay to enjoy the holiday parties but let’s do it with a prayerful attitude and with moderation, sensibility and BALANCE.  Follow some of these tips and the only stuffed turkey at the holiday party will be on the dinner table!

Try this prayer the day of, before you arrive and during  the party:

Father God, I bind my body soul and spirit to Your will and to the mind of Christ, knowing that by doing so I make right choices concerning every aspect of my life and that includes food.  I bind my physical body, appetite and unsurrendered soulish desires to the blood of Jesus that heals and strengthens my outer and inner man on so many different levels. I loose from myself all wrong attitudes towards food, all wrong emotional reactions that I have used to validate eating the wrong foods and I loose my souls desire to over stuff my body in order to dull my senses, especially when it is reacting to some buried pain or emotional distress.

I thank You, Lord, for this holiday season and all the joy it brings as I celebrate Your birth and all of the wonderful changes You have made in my life.  I love, stand in awe of and celebrate YOU Jesus!  Amen!

Out For A Walk

I have often said that we should be known for our walk in life and not by our talk (I am sure I am not the only one to make this reference). When we walk like Jesus, our talk becomes like Jesus, it is a process that never ceases. As we journey, let us remain mindful of the fact that one day we will stand before God and our walk will speak for us, not our words.

2 Cor. 5:6-10   6Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7We live by faith, not by sight. 8We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad

Confession of Faith

God in all His completeness dwells in Christ. The fullness of His nature and power lives embodied in Him.  Christ has everything God has.  In Christ there is all of God in a human body.  The complete being of the Godhead resides in Him.  All the wealth of God’s being in Him as a living form.  I am in union with Christ.  The fullness of God’s nature and being that dwell in Him are now in me.  In union with Christ I am joined to that same fullness by a living connection of my spirit with Him; I have everything that I need to have.  All this is because of who Jesus is and what He did for me.  I am filled with the fullness of God’s nature, eternal life.  I am filled with the fullness of God’s love, for God is love.

Gifts

By Deacon Tonna Eidson

Christmas is coming and it’s that time of year that we show our love for our friends and family by giving gifts. You search diligently, carefully wrap it in brightly colored paper and place it under the decorated tree. Then you mark off the days on the calendar until Christmas arrives, and you watch to see if they‘ve noticed there‘s a gift for them each day. When the day finally arrives, it’s so much fun to watch their faces as that very special gift is slowly opened. The paper is torn back, the bows thrown to the side and there it is. The thing that you spent so much time searching for that you just knew they would love. And, as soon as the object is revealed, you watch for an expression on their face. What a joy the look on their face makes it worth it all. At that moment, you know that all your hard work paid off. Especially with children, it’s easy to feel satisfaction when the toy you picked out is a favorite and is played with over and over.

That’s how the Lord feels when we receive His gifts by faith. He’s already done the work. He’s got them all wrapped up and waiting for us. All we have to do is reach out and “open it up” by faith. The Bible tells us about the first one, “For by grace are ye saved by faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9), but that‘s only the beginning. I John 5:14-15 teaches us that God if we ask according to God’s plan for our lives, He gives us whatever we ask. Gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts. All around us are gifts for us just waiting for the taking. Why don’t we have them? We don’t ask for them! God’s giant “Christmas tree” in heaven is just full of “packages” but, we’ve got to reach out by faith and get them. I can just see the angels now, we ask for something and they pick up our gift and get ready to send it to us, and nothing can stop it from coming except perhaps our own confession. God’s “toy shop” is always open, we can go there any time and get just exactly what we want.

In the body of Christ, we can also experience a “Christmas” experience. When you see sister so-and-so needing a new car, make it a matter of prayer that the Lord will provide. When you see brother “Jones” with a recurrent asthma condition, make it a point to pray until his healing manifests. No one but you and the Lord may know it, but, when the answer comes, it’ll be just like Christmas. Your effort will have paid off, not only in earth but in heaven as well. And, every time you see them, you’ll be reminded that the Lord used you to meet their need. Helping people get their needs met is not just for the rich ones in the church or for those with special gifts of healing--it’s for everybody! Plus there’s a perk, your faith grows in giant leaps…a “Christmas” present you give yourself!

A Dream

Recently, Jason D. had this dream

We were in the church it had 2 areas one sanctuary and one was a fellowship...  we were all gathered in the fellowship area..  eating and  feasting and  having a nice time...

Pastor walked up to me and said Jason you need to  come see  this!!!   soo i followed  him into the sanctuary...  as i walked into the sanctuary i fell out in the spirit. and i  then could see myself laying there and i could see a lot of other people laying  before God some out in the spirit some  crying and whaling before the Lord... in worship and repentance.. and just reverence to Holy Spirit..  His presence was so Strong and thick in there...  God was Obviously there doing something great....

Then Chuck came up to me and said Jason come look at this.  and he began to show me pictures...  they were of the history of the church..   and he came across some pics that  he kept saying hmm i wonder how they got in here..  these shouldn't be there...

Some of the pics  were of a man  standing by water..  one was even of a man standing on a rock in water..  which looked like either an ocean and or a HUGE lake up north...But the water and shore line was some of the main pics....

I really believe this is significant to where we are as a church now.. the Restoring the table of the Lord and feasting and fellow shipping as a family...  and   the threshold of presence of God we are about to experience...

and also some of the pics being from the church's past.. and how they were on the shore of the water and some were on rocks in the water.. being right there in the verge of the living water...

Holy Spirit is about to feast with us..  He is sitting down at our table to  dine with us and be part of us.. and  with that i believe an even greater move is going to take place.. Salvations.. Healing's... Deliverance's....Restoration...  His physical manifestation is taking place before our eyes...

What is The 150???

Scriptural basis for GROWING:

So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest (Matthew 9:38)

Great multitudes followed Jesus (Matthew 4:25).

Great multitudes gathered together unto Him (Jesus) (Matthew 13:2).

Great multitudes came unto him having with Him those who were lame, blind, dumb, and maimed and many others and cast them at Jesus’ feet and He healed them … and the multitudes were amazed (Matthew 15:30).

The multitudes resorted to Him (Jesus) and He taught them (Mark 2:13).

And the believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both men and women (Acts 5:14)

The Word increased and the number of disciples increased (Acts 6:7)

The Hand of the Lord was with them and a great number believed and turned to the Lord (Acts 11:21)

We are always setting goals here at New Covenant for higher, greater, more excellent, and more powerful service to God.  Without a vision people perish and cast off all restraint, so goals are vital for any group to thrive and grow, especially in the Kingdom.  God has given us a vision and a message that will reach the nations, help revolutionize lives, and lead souls into a relationship with our God and King.  With that in mind, in order to fulfill the vision that God has given New Covenant Church of Atlanta, we must grow even beyond the awesome growth we’ve seen through the years – we need many more people.  Not just to sit in pews, but laborers, ready to get to work for the demonstration of God’s plans and purposes.  So, a goal has been set - 150 people as our base attendance and beyond.

Will you set your faith in agreement?  Will you call friends, family, loved ones, those who haven’t been to church in a while?  Will you send cards, e-mails, etc.?  Will you call it forth in prayer?  If so, thank you.  God is going to do amazing things here in this Body of Believers.  We need the exponential power of unity and growth to continue here at New Covenant – to breakthrough the 100 or so mark in attendance, to increase in order to sow out into the world.  Let’s reach higher than we’ve ever reached before

A corporate confession based on the Scriptures above, say this out loud:

Where Jesus was, multitudes followed Him, gathered together with Him, were healed by Him, and taught by Him.  Father, your Word makes it plain that where Jesus is, people come – we call them in through prayer first.  You add to the church and I thank you now that the church is being added to in number.  The Word will increase, so I thank you that as the people grow in their understanding and hearing of the Word that you will increase.  Your Word increases and the people grow in their understanding of the Word; therefore, people will be added to the church. In the Name of Jesus
