Helping Feed the Family of God

From Pastor Angela

Judging

Have you ever looked at someone and before even speaking, you had formed an opinion about them in your mind? I am sure many of us have done it and it has been done to you. The wonderful thing about pre-judgment is that it is pre- and when we take the time to get to know someone one on one, we get to the heart and past the shell. Look at others, not with your own eyes, but with God eyes and then you will look beyond the human eye. Where we come from, the color of our skin, or the denomination we are should not be what we see. When you stand before the true judgment seat of God, he is going to look at your heart, not your words, judge not those around your, judge yourself.

Rom 14:12-14   12So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

13Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. 14As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food[a] is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean.

From Pastor Joan

Weekly Confession

For with my heart I believe unto righteousness and with my mouth confession is made unto salvation.

My tongue has power of life and death.  I speak the word of God that is in line with His will for my life.

When I open my mouth to speak the word of God that is in line with His will, the heavens are sanctioned and God brings His word from the supernatural realm and manifests it in to the natural realm.

I confess Gods word today for Peace, Joy, perfect health and prosperity in every area of my life.

Jesus who is my salvation rescued me from sin and death.

I am healed, cured, preserved, kept safe and sound, I am kept from spiritual death by forgiving sin and its effects, and I have a new life and a new heart

Ten Reasons Why You Should Make a New Year’s Resolution

By Deacon Tonna Eidson

It is commonly believed that the Babylonian people were first to make new year resolutions, and folks worldwide have broken them ever since. Early Christians had a tradition that the first day of the year should be spent looking back on past mistakes and resolving to improve themselves in the upcoming year. Well, I agree on the future thing, but don’t get too caught up on past mistakes or you’ll never get anywhere. Here are some reasons.

Scriptural reasons to make resolutions:

No. 1 “…but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.” Prov. 14:22 KJV (devise here actually comes from the word for engraving/scratching into a surface a plan). Are your plans firmly engraved?

No. 2 “The plans of a hard-working person lead to prosperity….” Prov. 21:5 GWT (prosperity defined in this verse is literally, gain; figuratively, superiority -- plenteousness, preeminence, profit). Any way you look at it, this can’t be bad!

No. 3 “Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint….” Prov. 29:18 ASV. Yep, it’s the big “D” word--discipline. If you don’t have a plan, you have no restraint.

No. 4 “…Put the vision in writing and make it clear….” Habakkuk 2:2 BBE. Because the Bible tells me so! That’s why we do it.

No. 5 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he….” Prov. 23:7. It seems as though our thoughts, estimates, plans are creative according to this scripture!

No. 6 “Commit your works to the LORD And your plans will be established.” Prov. 16:3 NASB (plans here from the original language are: cunning works, curious works, devices, imaginations, inventions, means, purposes, thoughts). How can we commit our works/plans unless we’ve got them written down? Now I’m meddling!

No. 7 ”Don't become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think.” Romans 12:2 GWT. Change, isn’t that what it’s all about? Or, as the KJV says it, “transformed”.

No. 8 Jesus said in Mark 4:3 KJV "Listen to this! Behold, the sower went out to sow.” Why would I include this verse in a new year’s resolution topic. Basically, the man had a plan. His plan was to have a harvest. So, he had to take steps toward his plan 1, 2, 3, 4.… And, so should we. Once we have our resolution, then we can take steps toward it.

No. 9 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” Prov. 13:12. NASB. OK, I might be stretching it a little but I don’t think so. I think that when your plans succeed, it gives you something--that extra umph--that adds years to your life.

No. 10 “…If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” Matthew 17:20 NASB. Start with a little faith, and make things happen in your life!

Now, here are some tips that might be helpful in getting there:

Step One

Be real and set achievable goals. Winning the lottery, for example, is out of your control. A more realistic goal would be “I’d like to add $10 a month to my regular offering and watch as God blesses me.”

Step Two

Be specific. Instead of "I‘ll read my Bible more," opt for "I want to read at least a chapter a day in my Bible" or "I will read my Bible for 30 minutes in the morning before beginning my day." One thing that is fun to do is read a Proverb a day--there are thirty-one.

Step Three

Find alternatives to whatever you might want to remove from your life and make this part of your plan. For instance, you want to quit smoking but you smoked to relax yourself? What other forms of relaxation are available to you? One of my favorite ways of relaxing is prayer--be careful, you might fall asleep. Another is worship, play some music and enter into worship. All of your tension, anxiety, etc. will slowly dissolve away.

Step Four

Disect large goals into small parts. For instance, “I want to lose 50 lbs.“. Commit to losing weight by resolving to join a gym and exercise or improve your eating habits, and celebrate the small victories.

Step Five

Aim for things that are really important to you, not what you ought to do or what others expect you to do. Ask God what He wants for your life and work in that direction. Psalm 37:23 says, “With the Lord shall the steps of a man be directed, and he shall like well his way.” DRB

The Weekly E-pistle

From Apostle Randy Morgan

Starting the Year Off Right, and Keeping On Course…

Each year, at the beginning of the year, I do three things.

  1. Matthew 6:33, I recommit myself to God and my relationship with Him.  I remind myself that I am nothing without Him, and that He is my All-In-All.  I ask myself, honestly, “am I praying like I should?”  “Am I in the Word and studying it as I should,” etc…  I then go to the Father and repent of my short-comings, and recommit myself to doing those things that I know I should do and living the life that I know that He has called me to live.
  2. Matthew 18:19, I evaluate my “People Whom am I in Direct Covenant With” list, and see to it that the list is modified appropriately.  The first person on that list is of course my spouse, and then all those who follow suit (leadership, family, etc).  I limit the list to 15-20 people, those whom I am directly responsible for to God and those who are directly responsible for me.  This list stays with me throughout the entire year, and I pray, daily, for those on this list.  These are my prayer partners, my accountability people, those who I am imparting to and those who are directly, regularly enriching my life, my trusted confidants and those who have proven themselves to give wise counsel; those who are called alongside me to accomplish what God has called us to accomplish TOGETHER.

Over the years some have been added to the list and others have been removed.  The value of this list is that it keeps my heart focused.  Of course there are many, many more people who I am in covenant with as a matter of fact every single member of this church is in covenant with me and I with them in a sense, but I am one person, I can’t even begin to focus quality attention on 100’s of people, but on this list are those who can focus on others, and those can focus on others, and so on.  A Covenant List is vital, in my opinion, to being effective.  Keep one close to your heart.

  1. Psalm 33:11 and Proverbs 16:3, I begin to actively hear from God for the strategies for the next year – For our church and for me individually.  I spend concentrated time in prayer and confession of the Word over all that God reveals.

Today, whatever you do to begin your new years, keep The Lordship of our God involved in every plan you make for 2008.  Take time to evaluate your relationship with God.  If it’s going great, keep it up.  If it needs a tune up, talk to Him about it.  Take time to look at those whom you are “in covenant with.”  Look at who is influencing you and evaluate those relationships.  Begin to determine to have Godly relationships with those who encourage you to be more Christ-like.  And finally, take time to ask God what He wants from you in 2008.  Get direction, wisdom, and help from the One who can truly help you and all of us impact our community, our city, our nation, and the nations beyond…

A New Year’s Prayer, make this confession out loud:

In the Name of Jesus, 2008 is set apart for God.  I give Him the firstfruits of the year.  In the Name of Jesus, health is mine, joy is mine, strength is mine, victory over bad habits is mine.  I receive all the good gifts that come from the Father above.  The enemy is defeated and I will see in this year the fruits of knowing His defeat.

In the Name of Jesus, my church, my leaders, my family, and my friends all walk in the benefits of the Covenant God has made with us through the Blood Covenant of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We will hunger for His Presence, we will desire to feed on His Word, and in the Name of Jesus, we will all be glad when they say unto us, let us go into the House of the Lord.

The Vision for 2008

Restoring the Blessing of the Table of the Lord

Learning to EAT AGAIN!!!

By:  Apostle Randy Morgan

For too long, so many of my children have not sat at the table to eat what I have placed before them, but I am calling them to return and be nourished, even now,” was the word God spoke to my heart as I was driving recently.  Right before the Word came, the image by Norman Rockwell to the left was put in my heart.  I suddenly felt God saying that it was time to learn to be nourished and that 2008 would be the year of “Restoring the Blessing of the Table.”  It would be the year that we learn to:

·    Stir our Hunger for the Word

·    Stir our Hunger for God’s Presence

·    Crave the nourishment of fellowship

·    Recognize The Father at the Head of the Table, His Rules, His Family, His Ways, and His Table Disciplines, as well as the joy at the table of the Lord.

·    Why He chooses to “Prepare the table before us in the Presence of our enemies???”

·    The church, Her Role in the distribution of the spiritual food in the earth and spiritual realm

·    The times for the main course and the times for desserts…

This is the time for us to learn how to come to the table of the Lord and feast through the study of His Word, Worship, and fellowshipping with one another.

We will be feasting on the things of God in 2008.  Our declaration shall become, “We SHALL BE NOURISHED NOW MORE THAN EVER.”

What is The 150???

Scriptural basis for GROWING:

So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest (Matthew 9:38)

Great multitudes followed Jesus (Matthew 4:25).

Great multitudes gathered together unto Him (Jesus) (Matthew 13:2).

Great multitudes came unto him having with Him those who were lame, blind, dumb, and maimed and many others and cast them at Jesus’ feet and He healed them … and the multitudes were amazed (Matthew 15:30).

The multitudes resorted to Him (Jesus) and He taught them (Mark 2:13).

And the believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both men and women (Acts 5:14)

The Word increased and the number of disciples increased (Acts 6:7)

The Hand of the Lord was with them and a great number believed and turned to the Lord (Acts 11:21)

We are always setting goals here at New Covenant for higher, greater, more excellent, and more powerful service to God.  Without a vision people perish and cast off all restraint, so goals are vital for any group to thrive and grow, especially in the Kingdom.  God has given us a vision and a message that will reach the nations, help revolutionize lives, and lead souls into a relationship with our God and King.  With that in mind, in order to fulfill the vision that God has given New Covenant Church of Atlanta, we must grow even beyond the awesome growth we’ve seen through the years – we need many more people.  Not just to sit in pews, but laborers, ready to get to work for the demonstration of God’s plans and purposes.  So, a goal has been set - 150 people as our base attendance and beyond.

Will you set your faith in agreement?  Will you call friends, family, loved ones, those who haven’t been to church in a while?  Will you send cards, e-mails, etc.?  Will you call it forth in prayer?  If so, thank you.  God is going to do amazing things here in this Body of Believers.  We need the exponential power of unity and growth to continue here at New Covenant – to breakthrough the 100 or so mark in attendance, to increase in order to sow out into the world.  Let’s reach higher than we’ve ever reached before

A corporate confession based on the Scriptures above, say this out loud:

Where Jesus was, multitudes followed Him, gathered together with Him, were healed by Him, and taught by Him.  Father, your Word makes it plain that where Jesus is, people come – we call them in through prayer first.  You add to the church and I thank you now that the church is being added to in number.  The Word will increase, so I thank you that as the people grow in their understanding and hearing of the Word that you will increase.  Your Word increases and the people grow in their understanding of the Word; therefore, people will be added to the church. In the Name of Jesus
