Put on Your Royal Robes

 Text: Esther 5:1-2

Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house. And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

Prophetic Word

"I say it is time for my people to put on their royal robes. It's time for you to find favor with Me,” says the Lord. “I require a girding time - put on the garments I've given you. Don't depend on your own ways - take what I have given you and come before Me.”

For I say, the enemy has garments, too. He's tried to robe you with anger, strife, depression, lifelessness, fear, bitterness, and lust, but I say, rent, tear off those garments. Burn those garments on a fire of my Spirit. Create a spiritual bonfire and remove that which has robed you long enough.

Respect my Presence. Come before Me as those who have properly clothed themselves. Display honor before Me.

-Word given to Pastor Randy during the week of August 9, 2004

In the book of Esther chapter 4, we see that Esther has just learned that a death sentence had been pronounced over her and her people. Modecai, who is a type of the Holy Spirit, tells her to carry this need to the King. This is a beautiful illustration of intercession's cooperation with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit must inspire and author our prayer lives.

With a death threat hanging over the people, you would think that Esther would have run to the King screaming in a panic; saying 'please, please, please save us.' But she didn't panic; she rather took three days to prepare herself for the King's Presence by putting on her royal robes. How often, when we have a need, do we run to God, quickly blurt out the need, and leave the throne room without one moment of acknowledging the Glory of the King. We often obsess over our own needs and desires. Why me Lord? When Lord? I need a spouse, God... Etc. While obsessing over our own needs, we often forget about ministering to the Lord first, giving Him His Heart's Desires, getting our hearts ready for Him.

Esther put on her royal robes and took the time to prepare herself. Today, I say, we have been given royal robes that must be worn when we go before the King. We must prepare ourselves before we go to Him. These are the Robes:

Isaiah 61: 10,3

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

  1. Garment of Salvation
  2. Robes of Righteousness
  3. Garments of Praise

The Garment of Salvation. The Hebrew word here for 'garment' is "Beged," which means an undergarment - basically it means, underwear. Salvation is your spiritual underwear. It is the foundational garment which must be put on before any other garment can be put on. Salvation is put on by "Calling on the Name of the Lord Jesus and having faith in Him" (Romans 10:13).

The Robes of Righteousness. The Hebrew word here for 'robes' is "Mahiyl," which means the clothes on the outside - the suit. We have our underwear, now we have a suit of righteousness that we can put on.

There are two aspects to righteousness:

      1. Our standing with God - When we receive Jesus into our lives and put our faith in Him, He gives us the gift of righteousness. We're made RIGHT in the eyes of God. If we've murdered, cheated, stole, lied, or simply gotten angry in traffic, then we've sinned - all sin being the same in the Eyes of God; however, when we receive Jesus, we're made RIGHT in God's Eyes - freed from sin and now made spiritually perfect, as though we've never done wrong.
      2. The Fruit of Righteousness - Holiness. When we are made right in God's Eyes through the Blood of Jesus, then it is up to us to submit to God's Will for our lives as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Garments of Praise. The Hebrew for 'garment' is "Ma'ateh," which means the final wrap - a scarf, headdress. The final beauty garment for our presentation to the King is the garment of praise. We should never be so bogged down in the cares of this life that we forget or overlook PRAISING HIM. Whether we feel it or not, we should always come before our King with praise and adoration.

Whatever you do, gird yourself up with the proper garments to come before the King today.

Helping Feed the Family of God

Job Prep

Every morning we get up and prep ourselves for the day ahead. We all have our routines we follow to get our mental and physical bodies ready to face the day. Most of us work Monday thru Friday so that we can earn our paycheck and care for our households. We also have work to do for God. Our requirements do not include dressing and prepping as we would for our daily work. Being about our Father’s business requires spiritual dressing and word covering. Just as you get your work clothes ready, get you God clothes ready. Spend time with God everyday because He wants to get to know you more.

Gal 6:8-10 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Confession of Faith

I am made righteous and am accepted through the blood of Jesus. I am blessed and highly favored of the Lord.  I am the object of Your affection.

Your favor surrounds me as a shield, and people go out of their way to bless me and to help me.

I have favor with everyone that I deal with today. Doors are now opened for me that  once were closed.

I declare restoration of everything that the devil has stolen from me.

I am favored by God, I experience great victories, supernatural and miraculous breakthroughs.

I win battles and have honor in the midst of my adversaries. I expand my territory today.

I have abundance and an increase of assets, for I experience the free favors of God.

My Testimony

By Alton Bryant

I was born in Brunswick, Georgia. I have a half brother and half sister by my mom and a half brother by dad -- I’m the only one by the two of them. Growing up my mom choir director and my grandfather was a pastor and a prison minister. So, as you can see, I was in church all my life. I was a member of the boy scouts and the eagle scouts as well.

When I was seven my pastor at the time had just given an altar call and I went forward to pray. My grandmother had always told me that I would know when the right time would be to give my life to God and I felt it was. So, I gave my life to the Lord at that altar but I really didn’t live for God as I grew older. I began dealing with knowing that I was gay in high school but really only thought about it. My family had always taught against homosexuality.

On the night of my high school graduation, my grandmother made me go to church with her. I was mad at her for making me go. In the service a prophet told my family that I would be doing something in church during my life. Two Sundays later another prophet came to our church, and he told my mom exactly same thing. I thought he was full himself and that
they were crazy. I totally dismissed it.

I went away to college the next fall. I made friends with one of the dorm hall monitors. He tried to get me involved with the Baptist Student Union (BSU), but I was not going to be a part of it. One night he tricked me into going by saying that he needed to go get his truck and then we would go to eat. He took me to the BSU building after picking up his truck, and at that moment, I knew that was where I was supposed to be. I was active with the BSU from that point.

One time I wanted to go to a BSU convention, so I managed to get there. At the meeting I was on my face crying at the altar (which was very unusual for me) and God started talking to me--even though there were about nine hundred other people in the room it was like we were there alone. He told me that He had a purpose for me. I was so overwhelmed that God was talking to me, because my lifestyle was to hang out with a basketball team that got drunk every night. My life began to change.

I felt that God had a plan for me to do mission work so, investigated the matter and soon was doing short-term missions: I traveled to Korea, Germany, France and different places in the US. One of my most memorable mission trips was to Daytona Beach. We did a thing called “Beach Reach” which is through the National College Ministry Assn. At that time they sponsored trips during spring break for outreach to students who were vacationing. One of the things we did was give free van rides to the hotel rooms and that gave us a chance to minister to the students. One day we did a Jerico walk around the bar district. and gentleman came up and prayed with us, we didn’t know where he came from and after we prayed, he disappeared. That was very memorable to me.

One time I went to Korea on a mission trip. I was in charge of teaching music to boys ages 7-12 years. We had to sleep in one large room which had about 14 bunk beds. That was not enough for the number of people that we had so I slept on floor. I was so moved because all the boys wanted to sleep on the floor with me (as a friend and teacher). No matter how much I tried to make them stay in their beds, when I woke up in the morning there were always nine or ten boys on the floor with me. I hope I made an difference in their lives, as they surely did mine!

In 1998 I ended up in Atlanta because I had been applying to do music missions. I went to different mission interviews but, the head of missions came to me and asked me to go with my friend to do sports ministry work. In my head I wanted to say no, but the scripture came to me “Here am I send me“ so I knew in my spirit that I was to go to Atlanta. We taught basketball, soccer and baseball in different churches (the group of people that we worked for actually sponsored sports during the Olympics and the head of it was a very good Christian man). We worked with at least ten different Baptist churches in the inner city. One day, my friend got hurt, so I ended up doing the whole thing, setup, teaching, breakdown by myself from then on.

A strange thing happened. At one of the churches we went to, I was hit on by one of the people that were helping with the youth groups. He invited me to a gay bar. I’m not a bar person, at that time I had never thought of going to a gay bar or any bar for that matter. But, for some reason, I went and my eyes were opened to the gay world. Later, my friend found out that I was gay because he saw me talking in a gay chat room (not porn, just chat). We talked about it and he told me he was going to love me for who I was, and that he would still be my friend.

I came out to my roommate in college. He said he was having issues with his sexuality as well. He actually got put out of his room by his previous roommate and that‘s how he ended up being my roommate. He was also involved with the BSU. He started asking me questions. I started thinking about it. I had had crush on the campus security officer and I told my roommate about it. He outed me to one of my other good friends and she came and was talking to me. This was only the beginning, he told several people about me.

Also during that time, I was sitting at the school’s cafeteria and thinking. An African man came up to me and asked me if I was studying to be a preacher. I said “No I don’t want to be a preacher!”. But it got me started thinking about the prophets that had come to the church. I never saw that man again. Once I was asleep in my bed and I was dreaming I went to heaven and I was walking around the streets of gold and all my friends were with me. Jesus walked up and was talking to them and then He asked me “What are you doing here?” He said it twice. Then he told me that he was sending me back because there was something I had not done for Him. While I was asleep, my roommate at the time said he had been trying to wake me for 45 minutes, to no avail. I called my grandmother and she stated that I needed to pray because there was something God had planned for me that I had not done yet. That made quite an impact on my life.

I did try to be straight. When I was in college I was engaged to a young lady. Thanksgiving break I stayed to study for finals while she went to her parents’ house. I went to her dorm room on Monday following Thanksgiving and her roommate said she married some other guy! She came on Tuesday and returned my engagement ring. I’m so thankful that God spared me from an unhappy marriage.

After all, I was gay, so I tried dating the campus security officer. He wanted me to be faithful to him but he wanted to date me, another man and another woman at the same time. I ended up getting depressed and moved home. I went to the beach and a married man met me and wanted to date me. I was working at the high school part time and his son was a student there. I was not going to go down that road.

After doing some research, I started attending a gay church and playing in their orchestra, but I really didn’t feel at home there. Then I attended New Covenant with a friend and loved it. When I came to New covenant Pastor Randy talked to me. I found out that he and I had had some of the same friends but we never socialized. I learned that God loves me not matter what I’m doing, If I’m standing on my head in the middle of the highway God loves me, it’s a stupid thing to do, but he still loves me even then. Pastor Randy started talking with me and giving me scriptures to read and he started praying for me.

I was dating a man at the time that I came to New Covenant, but we broke up. I started dating a different man who was from home, who moved to Atlanta. He said he was saved, but he was being friendly online and strange people were in my home at odd hours. I tried to work it out, but he ended it. I met another man in August 2006. It’s weird how God works. He wanted to make sure I was OK, he was a caring man, but I pushed him out of my life when I found out I was sick with cancer without telling him why (he had previously had a partner of 14 years who died of cancer and I didn’t want him to go through that again). But later when I told him, he said that it was wrong of me not to tell him. I don’t know what’s gonna happen with that but, I do know that God’s got it all worked out. I know He has a plan for me.

I’d like share two of my favorite Bible verses:

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” and

Isaiah6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

And to add to that, no matter whether you’re gay straight black white, God will use you!

We all have a testimony, are you willing to share yours?  There might be someone out there that will be blessed by tonnayour experiences.  If so, contact Deacon Tonna Eidson at (770) 882-8734 or e-mail newcovenantgirl@aol.com.   To view others’ testimonies, go to http://www.sweetwaterministry.org.

What is The 150?

Scriptural basis for GROWING:

So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest (Matthew 9:38)

Great multitudes followed Jesus (Matthew 4:25).

Great multitudes gathered together unto Him (Jesus) (Matthew 13:2).

Great multitudes came unto him having with Him those who were lame, blind, dumb, and maimed and many others and cast them at Jesus’ feet and He healed them … and the multitudes were amazed (Matthew 15:30).

The multitudes resorted to Him (Jesus) and He taught them (Mark 2:13).

And the believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both men and women (Acts 5:14)

The Word increased and the number of disciples increased (Acts 6:7)

The Hand of the Lord was with them and a great number believed and turned to the Lord (Acts 11:21)

We are always setting goals here at New Covenant for higher, greater, more excellent, and more powerful service to God.  Without a vision people perish and cast off all restraint, so goals are vital for any group to thrive and grow, especially in the Kingdom.  God has given us a vision and a message that will reach the nations, help revolutionize lives, and lead souls into a relationship with our God and King.  With that in mind, in order to fulfill the vision that God has given New Covenant Church of Atlanta, we must grow even beyond the awesome growth we’ve seen through the years – we need many more people.  Not just to sit in pews, but laborers, ready to get to work for the demonstration of God’s plans and purposes.  So, a goal has been set - 150 people as our base attendance and beyond.

Will you set your faith in agreement?  Will you call friends, family, loved ones, those who haven’t been to church in a while?  Will you send cards, e-mails, etc.?  Will you call it forth in prayer?  If so, thank you.  God is going to do amazing things here in this Body of Believers.  We need the exponential power of unity and growth to continue here at New Covenant – to breakthrough the 100 or so mark in attendance, to increase in order to sow out into the world.  Let’s reach higher than we’ve ever reached before

A corporate confession based on the Scriptures above, say this out loud:

Where Jesus was, multitudes followed Him, gathered together with Him, were healed by Him, and taught by Him.  Father, your Word makes it plain that where Jesus is, people come – we call them in through prayer first.  You add to the church and I thank you now that the church is being added to in number.  The Word will increase, so I thank you that as the people grow in their understanding and hearing of the Word that you will increase.  Your Word increases and the people grow in their understanding of the Word; therefore, people will be added to the church. In the Name of Jesus
