The Blood of Jesus Applied

“War broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail.  Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony

Revelation 12:7-8a, 10-11a

 

At 2:30 AM this morning, my eyes opened wide.  I was saved at 10 and baptized in the Holy Spirit at 14, in those years of serving God, I’ve learned that when I am awakened in the middle of the night, it’s time to get up, listen, pray in the Spirit, and get direction from the Throne Room.  As I prayed in the Spirit, the Lord spoke to my heart and said, “The Blood.”  I knew in that moment what needed to be done.  Our line of defense needed to be reasserted and freshly applied.  In the book of Exodus, when the angel of death was passing over Egypt, God had given His people direction – to apply the Blood of the Passover Lamb to the doorposts of their home, and when the angel would see it, he would Passover the home and not touch anyone of its inhabitants (Exodus 12).

 

We now have an eternal Passover Lamb – Jesus Christ, His blood was shed for us.  And just as the Passover Lamb’s blood was applied to the doorposts of their homes, we can apply the Blood of Jesus to the doorposts of our homes and lives by faith. 

 

So, for about 4 hours at the point of this writing, I have been warring with the Blood, the Name, and the Word, applying the Blood of Jesus, by faith, to our entire church family.  Know this, if you are at war today, spiritually, physically, emotionally, etc. the blood of Jesus speaks to your defense.  The enemy is fully aware that the precious blood of Jesus means his defeat.  The enemy is fully aware that once the blood is applied by faith, he cannot touch that which covenantally belongs to God the Father through the Blood of Jesus Christ. 

 

Do not be worried today, don’t fear what the enemy can do, the blood is applied and he must Passover.  He can’t touch what is marked for God’s Glory and purposes.  Begin to worship God, right now.  Your victory is here, right now.  Some of you, as you read this, are going to begin to discover and inward realization of your victory over the enemy, praise God.  

 

Make this confession of faith and meditate on it:

In the Name of Jesus, Father, I thank you for the Blood of Jesus that is applied to my life.  My body is healed, my relationships are whole, sins are forgiven, I am protected, my church family is protected, the Blood of Jesus is my defense and I command every demonic force that is on assignment against me and mine to be broken and thwarted right now.  In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.

“Whatever”

“Whatever” is a word that is thrown around, especially by the younger generation to the older. If there is something that is done or said, we get a little attitude and the fling of the hand, along with “whatever.” We need to take back “whatever” from the enemy and restore it to its rightful place in the kingdom of God. Whatever is a promise from God, not a flippant quote for the young, so let’s go to the enemies’ camp and take back what he has stolen from us. When we hear “whatever” from this point on (definitely rebuke disrespect) remember that God promised each of us inheritance and prosperity and doing whatever He asks and desires will bring it forth.

 Phil. 4:8 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Confession of Faith

 

Blessed be the Lord who daily loads me with benefits.

I give and it is given unto me, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over do men and women give into my life.

 

This book of the law shall not depart out of my mouth, but I will meditate in it day and night that I may observe to do all that is written in it; for then I will make my way prosperous and I will have good success!

  My Testimony

I will be the first to admit, I was an unusual child. As a boy growing up in the seventies, I could have been interested in GTO's, Mustangs, and Camaros. There was football, the Boy Scouts, or what would have really pleased my father: hunting and fishing. There was no cable television, no Game Boys, no personal computers with Internet access. Instead, I loved Wonder Woman, Jeanie, Joan Crawford and Mae West. I imagined that I had supernatural powers, lived in a bottle, and could turn into a mermaid if I swam underwater and swam fast enough. I had a jewelry collection, redecorated my room often, and collected artificial roses.

I wanted to be a teacher so I could write on the chalk board for a living and grade papers with red pens. Yes, I wanted to wear dresses and high heels as well as shorts and sneakers; carry a purse AND a briefcase, a magic wand, fly an invisible plane or turn into a bird, and I wanted to dance. Wanting to dance and be a dancer was an essential element of who I was to become. It meant that I could dance with other men and be seen on television which would in turn make me rich enough to buy the jewelry, clothes, houses, and the cars that I did like. I lived in my dreams, thought certainly that many would come true and planned my life accordingly. I was not yet nine years old.

In the seventies (in a town of four thousand in the rural midwest) a boy with these tastes did not exactly blend in with the other children. I did not think there was anything wrong, inappropriate, unrealistic, or shameful about them. According to many though, I was wrong. I was also determined, bossy, fearless, resilient, hopeful, sweet, creative, loving and gentle. As I remember this time in my life, I cannot help but embrace that child. I liked him. At the time, I did not often consider not being exactly who I was, doing exactly the things I wanted to do. I was, however, getting beaten up on a fairly regular basis. That super-charged, naive, self acceptance would not last long. When disco music became uncool, when Three's Company was canceled, when a mysterious unknown sickness was killing gay men across the globe, my world at home was changing against my will and out of my control. Three of my grandparents had died, my parents divorced, and my mother moved to Montana leaving me with my dad. They were both determined to make a man out of me.

Spending so much time alone in such a rural area I grew to appreciate the natural settings around me. I do not remember why or how, but I joined the boy scouts. As if missing Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley was not bad enough, other than a few pleasant memories, much of the time I was beat on and humiliated there too. So, I spent much of the Tuesday night meetings and weekend camping trips hiding from the others enjoying the quiet of the Wisconsin forests. God's splendor was displayed everywhere. When I was eventually able to visit my mom in Montana, I became even more aware of the God's glory in nature.

So, I was very aware of God and the glory of His creation(s), and I was happy enough with who I was but confused about how something God created (me) could be so despised by people. I was an embarrassment to my family and a target for harassment outside the house. By the time I was 18 years old, I was suicidal, inappropriately sexually active, and a frequent bar patron. So, I moved to Chicago!

There, I became an alcohol and drug abuser, a stripper dancing FOR men instead of WITH men, and a hair stylist. Everything that made me unpopular in my small town made me popular in Chicago. I was determined to make something impressive out of my life and prove that I was better than my abusers back home. God was good to me in spite of myself. I eventually quit drinking and doing drugs, found some financial success and freedom, but was very unhappy. Because I was not right with God according to His Word, nothing of the world was giving me the joy that I just knew I was supposed to be experiencing. So, I moved to Atlanta!


(Note to reader: Re-read the last paragraph again only replace Chicago with Atlanta.) Alcohol, drugs, stripping, bars and circuit parties were all used trying to fill the empty space that only Gods love can fill. Finally, at the end of my rope and with a broken and contrite heart, I called out to God for help. He spoke clearly in that moment, telling me to go find that little pink church in David magazine. I came to the Fall 2005 Revival the following week and was saved. I was baptized in water January 1, 2006. I was baptized with fire later that year. God gave me a new spirit when I was saved and my soul has been renewed in an on going process since then. I have always loved God but now I back that feeling up with action as best I can.

He loved me until I loved myself again. Now, He has placed me in a new family and community of believers that also love and accept me. Now I dance for Him, in His presence...and with flags and banners! He still provides for me according to His riches and glory. In fact, the heavens are opened up for me when my focus is on Him. Some favorite scriptures: Haggai 1:5-9, John 3:16, Romans 1:20, Romans 8:28, Jeremiah 29:11-14

Scriptural basis for GROWING:

So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest (Matthew 9:38)

Great multitudes followed Jesus (Matthew 4:25).

Great multitudes gathered together unto Him (Jesus) (Matthew 13:2).

Great multitudes came unto him having with Him those who were lame, blind, dumb, and maimed and many others and cast them at Jesus’ feet and He healed them … and the multitudes were amazed (Matthew 15:30).

The multitudes resorted to Him (Jesus) and He taught them (Mark 2:13).

And the believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both men and women (Acts 5:14)

The Word increased and the number of disciples increased (Acts 6:7)

The Hand of the Lord was with them and a great number believed and turned to the Lord (Acts 11:21)

We are always setting goals here at New Covenant for higher, greater, more excellent, and more powerful service to God.  Without a vision people perish and cast off all restraint, so goals are vital for any group to thrive and grow, especially in the Kingdom.  God has given us a vision and a message that will reach the nations, help revolutionize lives, and lead souls into a relationship with our God and King.  With that in mind, in order to fulfill the vision that God has given New Covenant Church of Atlanta, we must grow even beyond the awesome growth we’ve seen through the years – we need many more people.  Not just to sit in pews, but laborers, ready to get to work for the demonstration of God’s plans and purposes.  So, a goal has been set - 150 people as our base attendance and beyond.  

 

Will you set your faith in agreement?  Will you call friends, family, loved ones, those who haven’t been to church in a while?  Will you send cards, e-mails, etc.?  Will you call it forth in prayer?  If so, thank you.  God is going to do amazing things here in this Body of Believers.  We need the exponential power of unity and growth to continue here at New Covenant – to breakthrough the 100 or so mark in attendance, to increase in order to sow out into the world.  Let’s reach higher than we’ve ever reached before

 

A corporate confession based on the Scriptures above, say this out loud:

 

Where Jesus was, multitudes followed Him, gathered together with Him, were healed by Him, and taught by Him.  Father, your Word makes it plain that where Jesus is, people come – we call them in through prayer first.  You add to the church and I thank you now that the church is being added to in number.  The Word will increase, so I thank you that as the people grow in their understanding and hearing of the Word that you will increase.  Your Word increases and the people grow in their understanding of the Word; therefore, people will be added to the church. In the Name of Jesus

 

 

STOP!!!!!  DON’T QUIT by Deacon Tonna Eidson 

I’m thinking about that saying that it always gets darkest before the dawn. Isn’t that how Satan works? His attack is always the strongest right before you reach your goal. We all have opportunities to quit: quit jobs, quit relationships, quit projects, quit ministries, quit dieting <smile>. Yet, where does that get us? A lot of wasted time and energy in trying to get to the goal or make a thing work, wasted because we didn’t see it through.

I’m reminded of those in the Bible who had plenty of opportunity to give up the fight:

Moses -- everyone was against Moses, he’d been at it for nearly 40 years, why shouldn’t he quit? Yet, he kept pressing on with that crowd of complainers and God saw him through. Yes, and look how many lives were affected because he did.

Job -- what a mess he was in. Did he quit believing in God when everyone around him had been nothing but discouragers. No, he pressed on and his end was greater than his beginning.

What about Joseph? He landed in prison, but he didn’t quit. And he ended up being used by God to save the nation from famine.

And another jail frequenter would be Paul. Did he let prison bars stop him? No, he didn’t give up either.

Mary (Lazerus’ sister) didn’t give up even when it looked like it was too late. She made her appeal for Lazerus who had been dead several days and her petition was heard.

Hannah believed God even when it seemed in the natural that she would never have a child for she was too old. Her prayer was answered.

Are you like Moses and have a job God’s assigned you to do but it seems like nobody’s working with you? Or, like Mary do you think someone in your life is taking too long to act and your plan will/has failed because of their delay or non-participation? Are you like Job and it seems as though even God Himself has failed you? Or what about Joseph, are you one of those that God has given a vision and you only get mocked or attacked? Are you in the place Paul was in where you have to break all the rules you’ve ever learned and follow a plan that only gets you beaten down and confined? Do you think you’re too old like Hannah? Guess again. God is still at work and is helping you with your plans.

John 14:16 “…and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.” The Holy Spirit is spoken of here and in this passage the word means “one called along side to help.”

And, in Philippians 1:6 we read, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” The original language of this verse really implies that He will stay with you, helping every step of the way, as long as you are sticking with it (or you die trying).

I was praying for one of our members yesterday and I saw that person as a fruit-bearing tree that Satan would love to take the axe to and I felt very strongly to tell the person not to quit because just like we read in Psalm 1:3, “And he shall be like a tree planted (literally transplanted by God) by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” I told him, “Don’t quit! Wait for God to transplant you.”

So, when it seems like all circumstances are bad, no one will help you and they’re all against you, and it seems like it’s even too late, don’t give up. God hasn’t given up on you. You’re pregnant with a ___________ (ministry, plan, whatever), so don’t perform an abortion on it. Don’t kill the baby! Don’t give up! Don’t quit! And, don’t try to deliver that baby before the time for it to be born. Premature babies often die because they’re not fully developed enough to be put in the earth yet. Don’t force your _____________ (ministry, plan, whatever) to be born too early. Stay pregnant and keep giving it nourishment. On January 20th, we began two phases to our Sunday evening services.  The schedule is such that we have our corporate service and ministry time from 6-7 PM on Sundays.  Then, at 7:15, the Fire Institute convenes (after the corporate service has been dismissed).  Everyone is invited to attend corporate worship from 6-7 PM, but the Fire Institute (7:15-8:30 or so) is for registered participants only.
