Refreshing is Here…

by Apostle Randy Morgan

Pastor Johnny Layton-Morgan

and Apostle Randy Morgan

"This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest," And, "This is the refreshing" (Isa. 28:12)

The Apostle Paul in 1 Cor. 14:21 is inspired by the Holy Spirit to share with the Corinthian church that the prophecy in Isaiah is referring, not simply to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, but about the power of praying in tongues.  When we go to the prophecy in Isaiah, we read in context what the implication of this prophecy is, that the infilling of the Holy Spirit which is accompanied by “glossalia” (tongues) is “the rest … that causes the weary to rest,” and “this is the refreshing” (Isaiah 28:12).

As we approach this weekend, The Refreshing 2008, God has made some promises to my heart.  God has promised that those who may have “grown weary” in their walks with the Lord will experience the refreshing that only comes with this outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  So often, it’s easy to become “deflated” in serving God.  We feel that maybe we’re not getting enough done.  Sometimes we want to accomplish more than we are ready to accomplish, and we become tired.  In these, and many other, times we need THE REFRESHING.

Over the past week, 3 people have received the infilling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of praying in other tongues.  The season of refreshing has begun.  When we pray in tongues, we encourage and refresh ourselves (1 Cor. 14:4).  It is time to let the rivers of living water flow.  It’s time to pray in the Spirit, to yield to His utterances (Acts 2:4) and to discover the power of an overflowing experience with the Holy Spirit.

As we approach the weekend, pray in the Spirit like never before; yield to the gentle urgings of the Holy Spirit, and release the sound of the Spirit into the spiritual atmosphere.

Confession

 of Faith

I was reading in the 3rd chapter of James about the tongue being like our rudder. We know in our hearts and souls that we are children of the Most High God and that we will be with Him again one day. Our hearts sing praise, but our mouths might be writing checks that we don’t not want to cash. James states that the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts (v. 5). The tongue can be the course of our strength or our downfall, depending on what we say when it gets to going. Steer your ship to the heavenlies and let the enemy keep his words of destruction. Set our eyes on God and you tongue will follow. Speak words of encouragement today and if you should feel the negative on the tip of your tongue reclaim your mouth for God’s glory.

Psalm 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

In the Name of Jesus I will decree a thing and it will be established unto me. Death and life are in the power of the tongue.

I declare in the name of Jesus that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. God will perfect that which concerns me. I speak to my physical body and declare in the name of Jesus that my body functions to the perfection that God created it to function. Every sickness, every germ, every disease that touches my body dies instantly for I live the divine life and I walk in divine health.

I declare that every demon force is bound now! They cease their maneuvers against me and I release the forces of heaven.

I declare in Jesus’ name that the angels watch over me lest I dash my foot against a stone. I am out of debt forever! All my needs are met right now! I have plenty more to put in store. I walk in the favor of God and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. I expect unexpected income for money cometh to me now. I will say continually, Let the Lord be magnified who takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.

tonnaBenefit Package of Baptism in the Holy Spirit
with the Evidence of Speaking in Tongues

By Deacon Tonna Eidson

Have you ever purchased anti-virus software and installed it in your computer? Before you bought it there were researchers working discovering what‘s out there and technicians worked making the software to combat viruses that had not even made it to your computer yet. In many cases, the cure was found before the problem began. Perhaps you really didn‘t know how it worked, what it was attacking or what was being removed or isolated. But, you had enough faith that the maker of the software knew what your computer needed. So, you spent your hard-earned money to buy it and you administered it to your computer. By doing so, you believed that the effort you were making, you could avert some potentially disastrous situation and make the computer run better.

Praying in tongues is something like that when it comes to your own life. Our Maker knows what we have need of even before we ask. He gives us the “anti-virus” by baptizing us in the Holy Spirit, but it’s up to us to “run” it by opening up our mouths and praying in the Spirit. As we pray in tongues, we often do not know how it works, what is being attacked or what is being removed/isolated. But we have confidence that the Holy Spirit knows and that we are avoiding disasters in our life and things will just go better by doing so.

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Do we have to see the results immediately? Not always, but we just trust that our “Holy Spirit Anti-Virus” is at work, perfecting that which concerns us.

Jude 1:17-21 says, “But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you, ‘In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.’ These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.”

What does this mean, “building yourselves up”? In the language this was written in it meant the way we conceive “brick upon brick” building methods. It means you get BIGGER in the Spirit.

One day God showed it to me like this: There are radio and television signals all around, but first you have to have a receiver (we are receivers when we are born again). In the world around us, the bigger, the better the receiver, the more channels you get. Well, according to the Bible God is “transmitting” (speaking) to us all the time. Do we always hear everything God is saying? Probably not. But praying in the spirit builds us up and makes us have better receptors. Brick upon brick we become stronger, more technologically advanced receiving devices for what God is saying. Instead of hearing a word here and there or getting a small obscure picture, we can get the full 3-D picture with surround sound.

When I was in Bible College, we were taught that praying in tongues “charges your battery.” That’s not entirely incorrect. They may not have had the concept of a battery during the time that the original text was written, but they did have the Holy Spirit within. The Bible always interprets itself.: Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Wait! Does the Bible contradict itself? This verse says we get faith by hearing the word of God and we just read that we build ourselves up in faith by praying in the Holy Spirit. Is this a conflict? Absolutely not! When we pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit prays through us the word of God (even though we may not understand it). So what happens? We get faith because as we pray in tongues, we are hearing the word of God. A faith battery charge--that’s a perk if I ever heard of one! Who doesn’t need more faith?

Paul said in I Corinthians 14:19, “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all.” Can we give Paul a run for his money?

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

The evangelistic team at New Covenant was invited to hold a service at the Allstar Bar in Clayton, Georgia on February 10th!  No, you didn’t misread it, the service was held in the bar!!!

Pastor/Evangelist Brian Grizzle says, “God has opened a door, God has called us to be history makers in this small town. He wants us to cultivate the uncultivated.”  Pastor Brian quotes, “Jeremiah 4:3 which says, “For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, break up your fallow ground” as a motivation for this work because he says that this is truly fallow ground.

The evangelistic team that went to the meeting included Pastor Brian and Ed Grizzle, Deacon Tonna Eidson, Wilbur Childree, Brad Crossley, Diane Burrell, Wes Powell, and Shane Reid from New Covenant, along with Pastor Pam Wright and June Ward from God’s Remnant Ministries in Tennessee. Pastor Pam says, “If ever I have seen a clubhouse become a lighthouse, that night it happened! God showed up and stayed all night.”

Wilbur Childree and Shane Reed ministered in song and testimonies were given by various members of the group just before Pastor Brian preached a dynamic message.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the place and all people present came forward for prayer at the “altar” call.  A large quantity of “Saved And Gay” CDs were given out along with tracts and the other

Plans for next meeting on March 9th are underway.  It is anticipated that there will be a large crowd on that date.
