ASSISTANT PASTOR/
EVANGELIST
DR. ANGELA BROWN
I was raised in a small unincorporated town just outside of Murfreesboro, TN. I graduated high school in 1988. God blessed me with my son, Matt, in April of 1992 and with his birth came new direction and purpose in my life. In 1993 I graduated Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Psychology and minored in Women's Studies and Education. I returned to MTSU in the spring of 1995 and received my B.S.W. in May of 1996. In March of 1997 my son and I moved to Ellenwood, Georgia and in August of the same year, I entered into the United States Army. Two years later, I received a medical discharge from Ft. Benning, GA and returned to Ellenwood and begin working for the Army as a civilian. In the summer of 2001 I felt the call to teach in my spirit and left federal employ to began my teaching career and since that time have earned my Master's in Early Childhood Development and am currently seeking my Educational Doctorate in Teacher Leadership.

Spiritually, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of 12. I was called into the ministry at the age of 17, but because of the denomination of faith my family followed, did not answer the call, because I felt there was no where that I could serve God in the capacity to which I felt drawn. At the age of 20, I left the church of my youth because of the message that a pastor brought one Sunday afternoon. The opening words of his sermon were, "God didn't make no manly women and no twitching men." I knew that the message that was going to come forth was one of intolerance and hate and I also knew that God had made me and that in His eyes, I was His child. After two years away from God's house, I found myself returning to church via Metropolitan Community Church. I attended services for several years and again fell away from worship until right before moving to Ellenwood in 1997.  Upon moving to Georgia, I began attending First MCC of Atlanta and was an active member until the fall of 2004, when I felt God calling me to a new church home.  At that time, my family begin attending New Covenant Church of Atlanta. Since becoming a member of New Covenant, the call of God on my life has become so intimate. I have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, developed my prayer language, and received the gift of speaking in tongues.  As a result of my obedience to God, I have been blessed from glory to glory and in the spring of 2006 was ordained a deacon and in March of 2007 was ordained as associate pastor in continuing service of my Lord.
