Joan was born and raised in Nebraska to Christian parents who have been married over 50 years.  Joan has 2 brothers and 1 sister that all reside in Georgia.  Joan was saved when she was about 9 and filled with the Holy Ghost when she was around 11.  She still remembers those days as monumental in her life.  Her dad started a Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International, and her mom was involved in Women's Aglow which kept Joan very active in the charismatic movement.  Joan went on a mission trip to Jamaica which opened her eyes to another culture at the age of 22.  In the early 80's Joan attended Word of Faith Bible School via satellite and graduated in 1985.  Joan married and had a daughter, Crystal, 2 years later.   Joan and her husband were Children's pastors and were on the praise and worship team.  Their marriage ended in 1992 when her husband came to grips with his sexual orientation.  Joan moved and attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she received her Bachelors Degree in Telecommunications Management.

Joan met her 2nd husband in school and they married in July of 1995 and moved to Georgia the next day.  After 3 years, the marriage ended when Joan came to grips with her sexual orientation.  At the age of 38, Joan met Rosemarie and asked her to marry her a few months later and a year later they went to Hawaii and were married on the beach on Valentine's Day.  They began to attend a Church of God where Rosemarie gave her heart to Jesus in 2002. Joan knew she had a calling in her life since she was young and knew she could not fulfill it in the church they were attending.  She received a prophecy in Sunday School which changed the course of her life forever.  The prophet said, "you will be changing neighborhoods."  Little did he know, Joan and Rosemarie were looking for a new church.  That weekend was Pride 2005 in Atlanta. They met Pastor Randy, and after reading some of the material about New Covenant Church of Atlanta and how they believed in the gifts and the Holy Spirit, both of them were excited.

They attended service that night and knew this was our new church; our new neighborhood. They attended every service and got to know people.  They were nicknamed Jo & Ro and were hungry for all that God had for them and helped out where they could.  Joan became a Deacon in 2006 and a Pastor in 2007.  Rosemarie has been the stability Joan needed in her life and provides her great support as a wife, a loyal friend and a great woman of God.  They love their church family and know God has them right where He wants them.
