Optimal Health and Fitness Program
Greetings Saints!
I am so excited about this year’s Optimal Health and Fitness Program! Thank you for your interest and desire to be the best you can be. Before we go any further, take a minute and read these two scriptures:
“I urge you bretheren, in view of God’s mercy, to offer YOUR BODIES as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship”. Romans 12:1
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN; you were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with YOUR BODY.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
With these scripture in mind take another minute or two and ask yourself these questions:
Can you honestly say you are offering your body as a living sacrifice to God? If not, how can you start?
Do you consider yourself healthy?
What areas of health is the Holy Spirit convicting you to work on? Are you ready to listen? If not, why not?
Take a few minutes and prayerfully consider what your short-term (6-week) goals are considering your Body, Mind and Spirit.
Starting this Sunday, August 30th, we will embark on a journey that will open your eyes to new ways of eating, thinking and living. For some it will be review, for others revelation but the goal is still the same; to present ourselves a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God!
It is a fact that the healthier we are, the better we feel, the better equipped we are to serve God, pray, study the Word and hear His voice. THAT is the goal of this program and if you lose a few pounds along the way, HALLELUJAH! If you need to gain a few pounds of muscle along the way, Praise God! If you finish this program better informed and able to make wise, Godly decisions about what you put into your body, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Each week, (Labor Day Weekend excluded), for 6 weeks, you will be taught new and exciting ways to achieve OPTIMAL HEALTH. (No minimum daily requirements here!) There will be lectures, presentations, discussions, demonstrations and yes, exercises (yes I know, the "E" word) taught. WE ARE GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN!!!
We will meet after church around 1:00 p.m. to begin our Introduction to the program.
Bring a snack! Bring something light so you're not hungry during class.
Bring a notebook and pens.
Bring a pair of shorts and a t-shirt for exercising in. (The tighter the better. I know that doesn't exactly thrill everyone but it's important to see what it is we are isolating. Trust me.)
Bring a yoga mat. You can get them at Sports Authority, Play it Again Sports, Wal-Mart, Target etc. They aren't terribly expensive, or bring a couple towels to put on the floor. No, we will not be doing yoga.
I am SO proud of you for taking this step toward your future, I leave you now with one of my favorite scriptures and one of the cornerstones of this program:
"Beloved, I pray that in ALL respects you may prosper and BE IN GOOD HEALTH, just as your soul prospers!" 3 John 1:2
